DWR: PROTECT FROM WATER
We use fabrics with a DWR treatment in our LOTO series rainwear and triathlon items.
But what does it mean?
Durable Water Repellent (DWR) technology is a polymer coating added to outerwear to provide water resistant protection. The technology repels water, causing it to run off the surface of the garment. This causes it to roll off the surface rather than dipping into the fabric.
DWR not only repels liquids, but it does so in a way that lets fabrics breathe. Water droplets flow directly from the surface, but steam can escape freely from inside. This neutralizes trapped moisture and avoids the feeling of discomfort and restricted movement of clothes sticking to your skin. The DWR prevents the fabric from being weighed down by excess moisture, leaving the wearer with optimized comfort and freedom of movement.
